Join the Pride House Tokyo Consortium 

S.C.P. Japan is a member of the Pride House Tokyo consortium, which was established to take advantage of the opportunities available during the Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games. 

Pride House Tokyo provides a variety of diversity-related events and content based on the Pride House Tokyo Legacy, a permanent LGBTQ+ comprehensive center that disseminates information and creates a safe place for sexual minorities including LGBTQ+. Currently (as of April 2023), the consortium consists of 31 NPOs/individuals, 27 corporations, and 19 embassies, divided into 8 teams for various cross-sectoral collaborations.

Survey on LGBTQ+ Youth Experiences in Physical Education

From November 9 to December 11, 2022, we surveyed 838 college-aged students between the ages of 18 and 29. We found that for LGBTQ+ youth, the school athletic field is a difficult place for them to be themselves and feel positive. This was found comparing the experiences of LGBTQ+ and cisgender-heterosexual groups in physical education classes.

Outreach Activities through Sports Games

We utilize the venues of sports games and competitions to hold pride matches and set up booths to disseminate information about gender and sexual diversity including LGBTQ+.

LGBTQ+ Training for Sports-related Organizations

In order to transform the sports world into an LGBTQ+ inclusive organizational culture, we provide LGBTQ+ training to sports-related organizations.

Developing Ally Athletes

In 2022, we started the project to develop “Ally Athlete ” who understand LGBTQ+ issues and take actions together. Athletes participating in this project attend a total of three training sessions provided by Pride House Tokyo. Here they learn the proper basic knowledge about LGBTQ+ issues and how to communicate effectively through the media (as of May 2022, 22 athletes completed the training).

Current/former top athletes, including Olympians and Paralympians, completed training and participated in various activities with Pride House Tokyo as Ally Athletes.
