からだ発見ひろば～知的障がいやダウン症のお子さまの身体機能測定会&運動あそび～を開催 Body Discovery Plaza – Physical Ability Check & Fun Activities for Children with Intellectual Disabilities or Down Syndrome
S.C.P.Japanでは、10月19日に知的障がいやダウン症のお子さまを対象とした「からだ発見ひろば〜身体機能測定会&運動あそび〜」を開催いたします。こちらに参加してくださる小学校3年生から高校生のお子さまを募集しています。
●身体測定会に参加するメリット
年齢、障がいの有無に関わらず、日常の生活では比較的同じ動作や同じ体の動きをしています。知らず知らずのうちに「自分の楽な姿勢」「自分の動きやすい姿勢」をとっていると感じませんか？また、お子さんの姿勢について「猫背が強い気がする」「偏平足なのが気になる」「身体が柔らかすぎるもしくは硬すぎて気になる」など、病院に行くまでもないけどなんか気になっている…こと、ありませんか？
姿勢測定会では、立っている姿勢の写真を撮影したり、身体の柔らかさを測定したり、バランス能力のテストをしたり、お子さまの姿勢や運動について総合的に測定します。こちらの測定は理学療法士や作業療法士による測定となります。また、測定後に簡単なフィードバックもさせていただきます。
測定会のあとは、参加者全員で運動あそび教室を実施します。学校以外の場での運動のきっかけとなれるように、初めての参加でも楽しめる運動あそびを実施します。S.C.P.Japanで実施している定期プログラム「ハッピースポーツ教室」「Find Funスポーツ教室」の雰囲気を体験していただけると思います。
お子さまの姿勢や運動の特徴を知ることで、将来的に起こる可能性がある関節障がいなどの予防に繋げられる可能性もあります。お子さまがいつまでも健康で楽しく過ごせる一助となればと考えております。

S.C.P.Japan will be holding a ‘Body Discovery Workshop: Physical Function Assessment & Active Play’ event on 19th October for children with intellectual disabilities or Down syndrome. We are recruiting children from Year 3 of primary school to high school to participate.
●Benefits of Participating in the Physical Assessment Session
Regardless of age or disability, we tend to perform relatively similar actions and body movements in daily life. Have you ever noticed that you unconsciously adopt ‘your own comfortable posture’ or ‘your own preferred way of moving’? Also, have you ever had concerns about your child’s posture, such as ‘I feel they have a pronounced stoop’, ‘I’m worried about their flat feet’, or ‘I’m concerned their body is too flexible or too stiff’ – things that aren’t serious enough to warrant a hospital visit, but still cause you some unease?
At the posture assessment session, we comprehensively evaluate your child’s posture and movement. This includes taking photographs of their standing posture, measuring flexibility, and testing balance ability. These assessments are conducted by physiotherapists and occupational therapists. We also provide brief feedback after the measurements.
Following the assessment session, all participants join in an exercise play session. We’ll run fun movement activities designed to be enjoyable even for first-time participants, aiming to provide an opportunity for exercise outside of school. You’ll get a feel for the atmosphere of our regular programmes at S.C.P. Japan: the Happy Sports Class and Find Fun Sports Class.
Understanding your child’s posture and movement characteristics may help prevent potential future issues like joint disorders. We hope this can contribute to your child enjoying a healthy and happy life for years to come.

※Participants must be able to walk unaided and understand simple instructions.
※Those with exercise restrictions advised by a doctor are kindly asked not to participate.
